Er is geen aandacht besteed aan toekomstige ontwikkelingen. Binnen deze kortlopende literatuurstudie richten de auteurs zich met name op de Nederlandse voedings- en genotmiddelenindustrie, haar concurrentie- en innovatiekracht. Hieruit volgt een sterkte/zwakte analyse van de industrie en een aantal beleidsactiepunten voor het bedrijfsleven en de overheid aan de hand van conclusies en aanbevelingen. In de studie ligt de focus op de voedings- en genotmiddelenindustrie

    A Novel Protocol-Authentication Algorithm Ruling Out a Man-in-the-Middle Attack in Quantum Cryptography

    In this work we review the security vulnerability of Quantum Cryptography with respect to "man-in-the-middle attacks" and the standard authentication methods applied to counteract these attacks.     We present an entangled-state quantum cryptography system that operated for the first time in a real world application scenario. The full key generation protocol was performed in real time between two distributed embedded hardware devices, which were connected by 1.45 km of optical fiber, installed for this experiment in the Vienna sewage system.     Exposing metal and silicate charges to electrical discharges: Did chondrules form by nebular lightning?

    In order to investigate the hypothesis that dust aggregates were transformed to meteoritic chondrules by nebular lightning, we exposed silicatic and metallic dust samples to electric discharges with energies of 120 to 500 J in air at pressures between 10 and 10^5 Pa. The target charges consisted of powders of micrometer-sized particles and had dimensions of mm. The dust samples generally fragmented leaving the major fraction thermally unprocessed. A minor part formed sintered aggregates of 50 to 500 micrometer. In a few experiments melt spherules having sizes smaller than 180 micrometer in diameter (and, generally, interior voids) were formed; the highest spherule fraction was obtained with metallic Ni. Our experiments indicate that chondrule formation by electric current or by particle bombardment inside a discharge channel is unlikely.Comment: Accepted by Icaru

    A 3D process simulation model for wet compression moulding

    Wet Compression Moulding (WCM) provides large-scale production potential for continuously fibre-reinforced structural components due to simultaneous infiltration and draping during moulding. Due to thickness-dominated infiltration of the laminate, comparatively low cavity pressures are sufficient - a considerable economical advantage. Similar to other Liquid Compression Moulding (LCM) processes, forming and infiltration strongly interact during process. However, the degree of forming is much higher in WCM, which disqualifies a sequential modelling approach. This is demonstrated in this work via experimental characterisation of the interaction between compaction and permeability of a woven fabric and by trials with a transparent double dome geometry, which facilitates an in situ visualization of fluid progression during moulding. In this light, and in contrast to existing form filling approaches, a forming-inspired, three-dimensional process simulation approach is presented containing two fully-coupled macroscopic forming and fluid-submodels.     Challenging Depressive Beliefs: Habitual and Recollective Components of Stability or Change

    Background and objectives. Depressed people tend to hold stable negative beliefs that resist challenges. Two experiments investigated the cognitive bases of belief change or resistance to change following the provision of supportive or challenging pseudo-evidence. Method. Students scoring high and low on a measure of depressed state read belief statements, each followed by invented experimental evidence to either verify or discount them. Two days later, they read all the belief statements again, together with new statements, this time rating belief. Results. The students agreed that the statements described common beliefs and that the evidence was plausible. Discounted statements were believed less than new statements on the test. Also, dysphoric students believed discounted and new statements less than verified statements, but that difference was larger for the nondysphoric students. Parameter estimates of the habitual basis for belief ratings, obtained with process-dissociation procedures, were higher in the dysphoric group, and estimates of evidence recollection were lower. The latter finding was conceptually supported by deficient recognition of the gist of the discounting evidence in the dysphoric group (Experiment 2). Limitations. Experiment 2 results replicated the rating effects in Experiment 1, but not the parameter differences, due to low power as a consequence of the university response to the pandemic. Conclusions. We interpret these results in the context of other evidence regarding belief change and depressive cognition, such as habitual rumination and deficient cognitive control
